    This pageHi.
    My name
is under construction.Holly Tabor, formerly Holly Cecil, originally from New Hope, which is in Nelson County, Kentucky. Currently I live in Elizabethtown with my husband, Scott, and two children, Mea and Jude. Oh, and we have two cats. Morrie and Kaizer; the latter, I’m certain, is plotting to kill me, but that’s a story for another time.
    A little more about me:
I am 34, a proud mom and loving wife.
    (I believe in full disclosure.)
I love to read. More specifically, I love books. I love the feel of them, the smell of them. I love to bend them around as I read, a feat only really achievable with paperbacks, which is why I love them best of all. I do not have a Nook or a Kindle or any other electronic reading device. While the struggling environmentalist in me realizes this would be a greener alternative, I can’t seem to break from the grips of my collection of books, most of which are in boxes because I don’t have enough shelves to hold them.
I do have a smart phone, and intended to get an app that allowed me to read books on it, but I haven’t done it yet.
I love coffee, but I love sweet tea more.
I love my family more than anything else, even sweet tea.
I am an artist – an out-of-practice one, who dreams of one day having the time to pick up a paintbrush again.
I am a former athlete (softball and volleyball).
I am a lifelong learner, which is to say I am perpetually convinced I really don’t know anything, but believe that that’s really the truest thing any of us can know, so, maybe it’s OK to feel this way.
I am a writer; I have written news articles, features, columns, film scripts, research papers and more emails than I care to admit – but usually only if I have to. It’s not that I don’t love it (writing, that is, not email). It’s just hard to find the time. Occasionally I write in my journal. Occasionally, as in, once every three months or so.
I used to be a photographer, but now I just take pictures.
I am generally an overachiever, except when it comes to cleaning my house. At that, I’m an achiever at best, sometimes.
I believe in the best in people. Sometimes I need to be reminded of this.
Most of all, I am just another imperfect person in this world full of imperfect people, who believes each of us has potential and purpose.

Hi. My name is Holly Tabor. Welcome to my
On this site you'll find evidence of my professional and academic work, all of which has helped prepare me, in some way, to become a teacher. You'll also find samples of published writing from my days as a journalist and a few attempts at being tech-savvy, which, I admit, I really enjoyed doing.
You'll also learn a little about me as a person -- that I am a loving wife and mother, an out-of-practice artist, and a coffee drinker, for example.
