Hi.
My name is Holly Tabor, formerly Holly Cecil, originally from New Hope, which is in Nelson County, Kentucky. Currently I live in Elizabethtown with my husband, Scott, and two children, Mea and Jude. Oh, and we have two cats. Morrie and Kaizer; the latter, I’m certain, is plotting to kill me, but that’s a story for another time.
A little more about me:
I am 34, a proud mom and loving wife.
(I believe in full disclosure.)
I love to read. More specifically, I love books. I love the feel of them, the smell of them. I love to bend them around as I read, a feat only really achievable with paperbacks, which is why I love them best of all. I do not have a Nook or a Kindle or any other electronic reading device. While the struggling environmentalist in me realizes this would be a greener alternative, I can’t seem to break from the grips of my collection of books, most of which are in boxes because I don’t have enough shelves to hold them.
I do have a smart phone, and intended to get an app that allowed me to read books on it, but I haven’t done it yet.
I love coffee, but I love sweet tea more.
I love my family more than anything else, even sweet tea.
I am an artist – an out-of-practice one, who dreams of one day having the time to pick up a paintbrush again.
I am a former athlete (softball and volleyball).
I am a lifelong learner, which is to say I am perpetually convinced I really don’t know anything, but believe that that’s really the truest thing any of us can know, so, maybe it’s OK to feel this way.
I am a writer; I have written news articles, features, columns, film scripts, research papers and more emails than I care to admit – but usually only if I have to. It’s not that I don’t love it (writing, that is, not email). It’s just hard to find the time. Occasionally I write in my journal. Occasionally, as in, once every three months or so.
I used to be a photographer, but now I just take pictures.
I am generally an overachiever, except when it comes to cleaning my house. At that, I’m an achiever at best, sometimes.
I believe in the best in people. Sometimes I need to be reminded of this.
Most of all, I am just another imperfect person in this world full of imperfect people, who believes each of us has potential and purpose, and hopes to achieve mine -- maybe today!
